This new project focuses on authentic performances of both classics and neglected gems from the discography of pioneering bebop drummer Kenny Clarke (1914-1985), either as a leader or sideman.  It covers the “golden age” of bebop in the 1940s through cool jazz to the emergence of hard bop in the mid-1950s.   Clarke’s discography is unusually rich and diverse, as he played on hundreds of recordings (“sides”) during this period with almost all the major figures of both the swing and bop eras.

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, vocalist Aimée Allen's intimate connection with music began as a child. Her childhood was scored with classic jazz, because her mother kept selections from the tradition on the family turntable.  Though singing was a part of her childhood, Aimée first began singing professionally with jazz a cappella groups in college. After graduation, Aimée moved to Paris where she performed regularly in jazz clubs and festivals. The deep relationship between the francophone audiences and Brazilian bossa nova, led Aimée to form Les Bossa Novices, a Paris-based group dedicated to bossa and jazz.

One of the three most recognised jazz singers of all times, also knows as Lady Day. Her sad life should make several movies, and her talent should make several generations of musicians. The tribute to her will be sing by beautiful Doris Lamoš.

A heritage of New York dixieland is held by the J. J. Jazzmen band. They have performed all around the world, in 2000 in Prague and Berlin with a ex co-player of Louis Armstrong, Joe Murany. In 2001, they were invited to the craddle of dixieland, New Orleans, to perform during the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

Rene is a blues mastermind from Chicago. That said, you know that his show’s gonna be good. He’s a composer, guitar player and singer, playing the hell out of blues with both his own songs and great blues compositions.
