Yotam is THE rising star you ought to see. Guitarist, composer, and outstanding progeny of bebop, Yotam has established himself as one of the best young jazz musicians in New York.
His career has officially started while he was 21 – at Umbria Jazz Festival, one of the most renowned music festivals in Italy, where he released a critically acclaimed debut album and set out on an extensive tour of Europe.
He’s studying, performing and composing in New York since 2005. In the same year, he was a finalist in Thelonious Monk International Jazz Guitar Competition, and in 2009, a critic from the very famous Blue Note Records stated that Yotam is "forging his own path with skills and style.“ A rare compliment indeed.
As artistically gifted as he is technically proficient, Silberstein is featured on a wide variety of critically acclaimed releases including “Resonance” and “Brasil” on the Jazz Legacy Productions label, John Patittuci's new trio album "Irmaos De Fe" and Monty Alexander’s Grammy-nominated “Harlem-Kingston Express Live!” among countless others.
Yotam has earned his place among the jazz elite by collaborating with such luminaries as James Moody, The Heath Brothers, Roy Hargrove, George Coleman, David Sanborn, Marcus Miller, Paquito D'rivera, Christian McBride, John Patittuci, and with the international stars as well – Dee Dee Bridgewater, Al Jarreau, or Dr. Billy Taylor, to name a few.
Now, as a guest of famous Reduta Jazz Club, voted by The Guardian magazine as one of the top 10 jazz clubs in Europe, Yotam is going to show his skills to the Prague audience. We are sure that his dynamic style will astonish everyone around.
His band for the Reduta gig will consist of Glenn Zaleski (piano), Rick Rosato (bass), Daniel Dor (drums), and, of course, Yotam himself on guitar.
Wynton Marsalis, nine times Grammy winner and a first jazzman who obtained Pulitzer's Price, has played in Reduta! The audience of a concert at 20th June was astonished. Mr. Viklický has brought a very special guest for his concert, one of the most genuine trumpeters, composers and lecturers, considered to be the most influential contemporary jazzman - Wynton Marsalis. Another special guest was the co-player of Mr. Marsalis, amazing trumpeter Marcus Printup. The harmony of Marsalis's and Viklický's band was truly unique. We are sure that the concert has instanty become a part of the history of Reduta and jazz itself, such as other concerts in Reduta - of Cecil Taylor, Enrico Rava, or Chris Barber.
Peculiar, and also incredibly talented blues guitar player and singer from Argentina, Daniel de Vita, has found a perfect co-player for his show. It is one of the best European mouth organ players, Charlie Slavík. His well know blues band will surely go together perfectly with mister de Vito, and a fusion of their slightly different styles will be a time of your life.
Funk &fusion quartet Stellar comes straight from Berlin with its wild German rhythms. Victoria Klewin and her band are the sweet-spot where great things meet: where tradition meets with originality and retro nostalgia gets down and dirty with musical fusion. Originally conceived as a cross between vocal jazz and blue-eyed soul, the Bristol 7-piece is all that and more, gracefully merging genres and styles to create music that is as unique as it is engaging and accessible. Their live shows pack a punch with front-woman, songwriter and powerhouse vocalist Victoria Klewin at the helm. Don't miss their show in Reduta - perfect place for blues star.
One of the goals of Reduta Jazz Club is keeping the culture in Prague. For that reason, cooperating with Prague 1 Municipal District, has Reduta arranged another Meeting With Senior Citizens. Our elders are regularly meeting with artists and politicians, this time with actresses Jitka Asterová and Hana Čížková, and with a writer Václav Rybařík. We are looking forward to host another pleasant meeting next month.
